Motor Accident Solicitors Society - Fatal Accidents
Types of Claim
Road traffic accidents can happen from many different circumstances. Some types
of claims will mean a slightly different procedure will take place, which is
why it is important to obtain advice from a specialist. MASS Members will be
able to advise you on your specific circumstances. Select the type of claim
from the menu on the left for more information.
A Fatal Accident
If you have tragically lost a member
of your family from a road traffic accident, a MASS solicitor can advise
you on whether you can claim for yourself or your dependants. If you have
not already received the booklet “Advice for bereaved families and
friends following a death on the road” from the police or family
liaison officer, please click here to obtain a copy from the road safety
charity
Brake. MASS assisted Brake with the production
of this booklet.
Fatal accidents, i.e. one in which someone is killed, have special rules.
There are laws about WHO is entitled to claim for the loss and exactly
WHAT they are allowed to claim for.
It is essential to get expert advice on this at an early stage from
a MASS solicitor. Many MASS solicitors also have expert Probate departments
that can handle the administration of the whole estate for you as well
as the accident claim.
