Motor Accident Solicitors Society - Had an Accident?
What Should I do?
Get independent legal advice.
Even if you think
your claim is straightforward, it is always advisable to get independent
legal advice to ensure that your claim is dealt with efficiently and
you receive what you are entitled to. If you have an injury then this
is especially important.
Inform your insurance company
It
is advisable to do this as soon as possible after your accident
Keep records and receipts
It is advisable to keep a note of any expenses you incur as a result of the accident and get receipts wherever possible. If you suffer injury then it can be helpful if you keep a diary of any difficulties that you have (eg not able to sleep or play sport or work, dates off work, treatment undergone)
Seek medical advice if injured
For obvious health reasons you should ensure you get medical treatment for any injuries but also keep a note of who you see and make sure they have a note of your injury as your solicitor may need to call for medical records to support your claim.
