How to join us - Solicitors

Please note that membership of MASS is by solicitors’ office, and not by firm or individual.  If you have more than one office that deals with road traffic accidents they will need to make separate applications

What you need to do:

  • You will then need to complete an application form.  If you have ABS status you will also need to complete a short extra appendix.  Completed forms can be sent to:

What we will do:

  • As soon as we receive your completed form we will forward it to the appropriate Regional Co-ordinator who will arrange a short, informal, interview.  This may be in person or by telephone.
  • Once the region has approved your application it will go to our Management Committee for final ratification.  The Management Committee’s decision is final and is not open to appeal.

What will it cost?

Once your application is approved the following fees will apply:

England and Wales

Joining fee (one off)                      £500
Annual subscription fee                £600
Annual fee-earner charge            £50 per RTA claims handler

Scotland and Northern Ireland

Joining fee (one off)                      £500
Annual subscription fee                £300
Annual fee-earner charge            £50 per RTA claims handler

Our ‘membership year’ runs from January. If you join us between July and December we will halve the annual subscription fee for that year.

Please note that MASS is a ‘not for profit organisation’ and is not VAT registered.

Please also note that we are currently asking all existing and new Members to contribute a ‘special levy’ (£50 per fee earner for England and Wales and £25 per fee earner for Scotland and Northern Ireland) to support our campaign to fight the Government’s plan to end general damages for minor whiplash and increase the small claims track limit.

How long will it take?

Membership applications shouldn’t take longer than a month to process, but please be aware that holiday commitments (ours and yours!) can sometimes cause delay.

What happens then?

As soon as you are confirmed a MASS member you will be able to take immediate advantage of all the benefits that membership brings:

  • We will send you your personalised membership certificate to display to your clients
  • We will supply you with our logo which you can use on your stationery and website
  • Members of the public will be able to contact you directly via our website
  • You will be able to book MASS Training courses at discounted prices
  • You will be able to take advantage of specially negotiated rates for various services (both professional and leisure)
  • You will be able to attend regional meetings
  • You will automatically be sent membership bulletins
  • You will receive our quarterly MASS Insight magazine
  • You will be able to advertise in the MASS Insight magazine at reduced rates
  • You will have access to the exclusive members’ only area of our website
