Roundtable: Where next for personal injury reform?MASS Chair, Simon Stanfield:Roundtable: Where next for personal injury reform?
Simon Stanfield, partner and head of road traffic accidents and technical claims at Simpson Millar, expressed concern the changes could see insurers flooded with claims that would have formerly been screened by personal injury firms and claims management companies. “What’s forgotten by the insurance companies is that legal firms filter out between 30% and 40% of the claims – insurance companies don’t see those,” he said. “CMCs won’t filter out those claims that are worth less than £1000 now and that extra 30% to 40% will flood in. Those claim numbers can only go up by the CMCs being involved.”
