MOTOR ACCIDIENT SOLICITORS SOCIETY PRESS STATEMENT
REGARDING THE PUBLICATION OF LORD YOUNG’S REPORT

MASS Chairman, John Spencer comments; “Lord Young’s report fails to draw distinction between RTA claims, which are increasing, and other PI claims, those affected by Health and Safety, which are falling. According to the Government’s Compensation Recovery Unit’s statistics, Employers and Public liability claims have fallen over the last 9 years. This fact goes against the report findings that these claims are increasing uncontrollably, or indeed at all. In fact the Legal Services Board’s Consumer Panel found that referral fees, and by inference Claims Management Companies, have not statistically increased spurious, or unmeritorious claims.”

Notes to editor
The Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) is a national association of solicitors who specialise in Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims. MASS was formed in 1991 to promote the efficient and expert provision of legal advice for those involved in motor accident compensation claims and handles 400,000 claims a year. The Society assists the exchange of information between solicitor firms specialising in RTA and Personal Injury claims, providing Members with bulletins, newsletters, training courses and a directory of service providers whose services may be required following a road traffic accident.

Our Mission Statement.

‘MASS promotes the highest standards of legal standards through education and representation in the pursuit of justice for victims of road traffic accidents.’

As an individual who has been involved in a road traffic accident, we understand how important it is for you to have independent legal advice and a voice to represent you in the wider concept of your legal rights and access to justice.

For nearly 20 years, MASS has been campaigning for exactly these rights, and continues to do so in all aspects surrounding road traffic accidents and victim support.
