MASS ‘chosen charity’ 2017/18 – The Child Brain Injury Trust
The Child Brain Injury Trust is delighted to be MASS’ chosen charity for 2017/18. Sadly, road accidents are one of the main causes of brain injury in the children that the charity supports.
The devastation brain injury causes impacts heavily on the child themselves and has a knock on effect on the whole family. Parents have to come to terms with what has happened and understand that their child’s future may not be what they had thought it would be. Siblings can feel side lined as parents may spend months in hospital whilst caring for their injured child. Throughout this traumatic time, one charity is there for families – the Child Brain Injury Trust, helping families deal with the impact of brain injury when there is nowhere else to turn to. We know what families will be going through and our support doesn’t stop when a child is discharged from hospital. In fact, that is where our journey with families often begins helping families adjust at home, in school and in their communities.

And finally, the MASS office would like to show off the fantastic painting received from the Child Brain Injury Trust who wanted us to have a token of appreciation to thank us for the hard work that went into fundraising for them.
‘Life is an uphill struggle’ was painted by David who says:
“Sometimes I feel normal and fit in and that makes me happy and other days life is a struggle and I find it hard to explain to people how i’m feeling – I then get stressed and kick off, then I’m sad because I’ve made everyone else sad.”
